A Message from our President...

Howdy, Aggie Moms!

I am honored and excited to serve as the President of Collin County Aggie Moms this year. I am blessed to have a great group of ladies who have volunteered to serve on the board. We already have a wide variety of events and activities planned for this year. We believe we have something for everyone!

The Board and I look forward to welcoming all our new and returning members at our first General Meeting of the year which will be held on September 19th. Be sure to arrive at 6:30 p.m. for social time and share a light snack with new and old friends. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. Our meetings are held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Center, 17360 Coit Road, Dallas, TX 75252. We hope to see you there!

Thanks and Gig ‘Em!

Membership Reminders
Howdy New and Returning Aggie Moms!

Our board has so many amazing things planned for this year and we want you to be a part of it all!! If you haven’t yet purchased your yearly membership, please click the button below.

Your $30 yearly membership fee goes to help CCAM support our members and activities and is the start to our giving for the year—last year CCAM gave $42,000 to TAMU!! We had $20,000 in scholarships, $5,000 towards a CCAM endowed scholarship and $17,000 to TAMU Student Organizations. Our members are invited to direct their portion of the student organization money any way they like! We all get 3 votes, so you can direct all of the funds to one club or choose up to three!

There are so many ways to get involved at CCAM and we want to see our membership active and growing. As you’ll see in our weekly and monthly newsletters, we have meetings with informative speakers, fun social connecting events, great fundraisers and interesting boutique items too.

There is no obligation to participate in any CCAM event, simply choose what sounds interesting to you. We are certain you’ll meet other fun Aggie Moms at all of our events and that’s what CCAM is all about—supporting our students and each other and having some fun along the way!

I hope to see you at our September meeting and if you have questions about membership or need help navigating the website, please reach out to me!

Thanks and Gig’em!!

In the Spotlight
Introducing...Valerie Pyland!

What is your board position and a brief description of what you do for CCAM?I’m 1st VP Membership. My duties are to reach out to new and perspective members and tell them about what we do here at CCAM. At meetings and events I’ll greet you and get you all checked in! I also report to the Aggie Moms Federation by sharing our membership numbers so our members get all the benefits of belonging to the Federation. There are several board chairs that work on the Membership committee to help CCAM with all things to support our Members: Aggie Angels, Name Badges, Ring of Honor and Goodie Bags are all part of the Membership team.

Where do you live?We live in McKinney but are building a home at our ranch in Leonard (In NE Collin County).

Where did you attend college?I went to the University of Alberta in Canada and graduated with a BSN in 1993. My husband, Chad is an Aggie, class of ’94.

Tell us about your kids: I have two boys, Sam (20) is attending Collin college and Michael (19) is my Aggie: class of 2025 majoring in GeoPhysics.

What are your hobbies?I like to quilt and craft- I’m part of the ornament team and help assemble the finished ornaments.

What is a good book you've read recently?I like dark and suspenseful novels, Verity by Colleen Hoover is a recent favorite.

What is your most favorite vacation you've ever taken or favorite place you've traveled to? My favorite place to visit is the Canadian Rockies especially Banff and Jasper.

What is something most people don't know about you? I just completed my RN refresher and I’m going to go back to work after 19 years away from nursing!

What is your favorite thing about Texas A&M? I love the traditions and loyalty that students and former students have to the school.

What is some advice you would give a new student at A&M?I would tell them to attend class, introduce themselves to their professor BEFORE they have an issue and to join a club or organization so they have people to do things with.

What is some advice you would give a MOM of a new student at A&M? To join their local Aggie Moms club of course! Some practical advice would be to choose what football game they want to go to as soon as the schedule is announced and buy their tickets and book a hotel as early as you can! The town is so crowded during a football weekend but it’s also so fun; pack your patience and have a great time!

Last Call to Register your Aggie Graduate!

Deadline to Register your August Aggie Grad for the September Recognition is September 8th.

We are excited to celebrate your Graduate on September 19th. Please Register and provide the needed information/picture to recognize your student. Please let us know if you will be attending in person.

Congratulations & Whoop!
